Auszug
Die ambulant, das heißt, außerhalb des Krankenhauses erworbene Pneumonie (Krankenhausentlassung länger als 4 Wochen zurückliegend) ist eine Erkrankung von volkswirtschaftlicher Bedeutung mit erheblicher Morbidität und Mortalität (∼11%). Bei 60–80% der Patienten liegt Komorbidität vor, nur 20–40% der Fälle treten aus völliger Gesundheit heraus auf. Prädisponierende Faktoren sind neben höherem Lebensalter und Nikotinabusus eine Reihe chronischer Erkrankungen (⊡ Übersicht).
