Claude-Bénigme Balbastre (1729–1799) was a French composer who, after writing more-or-less academic organ work at Dijon, blossomed as a fashionable Parisian harpsichord teacher and cosmopolite. La, Lugeac and La, d’Hericourt rank among the very finest keyboard works of the 1750s. (M 53175)
