Der Begriff Cultural Studies wird unterschiedlich verwendet. Während er in den Diskussionen zu den Kulturwissenschaften in Deutschland kaum gebraucht, bisweilen sogar tabuisiert wird, wird in Österreich Cultural Studies manchmal fälschlicherweise mit Kulturwissenschaften gleichgesetzt.
