Zusammenfassung
Das Wahlsystem ist eines der Elemente, die zur Ausgestaltung des politischen Systems beitragen. In Mexiko waren Wahlreformen die Schlüsselelemente für die Transition zur Demokratie, da sie die Durchführung kompetitiver und sauberer Wahlen ermöglichten. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, einen allgemeinen Überblick über das mexikanische Wahlsystem zu geben. Obwohl der Begriff „Wahlsystem“ im engeren Sinne nur die Art und Weise meint, wie die Wähler ihre Stimme abgeben und wie die Sitze der Legislativen und die politischen Ämter der Exekutiven vergeben werden, wird der Begriff hier in einem weiteren Sinne gebraucht, der die Organisation der Wahlen und die Wahljustiz miteinbezieht (Nohlen 2008, S. 8).
