Keine andere Formulierung Max Webers hat eine derart weite Verbreitung gefunden wie die des Idealtyps (s. Kap. II.17) sozialer Beziehungen (s. Kap. II.4) namens ›Charisma‹. Wie jede Popularisierung trennt auch diese Intention und Inhalt vom Begriff, um ihn mit Bedeutungen zu besetzen, die die Präzision der ursprünglichen Idee zugunsten meist materieller Interessen in eine Multifungibilität aufweichen und die Idee zum Klischee verformen. ›Charisma‹ dient etwa der Werbung für Waren oder inszeniert Prominenz von Personen.
