Zusammenfassung
Das Internet hat sich zu einem Marktplatz entwickelt, auf dem nicht nur Informationen ausgetauscht, sondern auch Produkte und Dienstleistungen angeboten und verkauft werden. Viele Unternehmen, die als Anbieter auftreten, sind bemüht, ihr Internetangebot durch interaktive Beratungs- und Serviceleistungen zu verbessern. Eine Technologie, um solche Dienste anbieten zu können, ist Case-Based Reasoning (CBR). Im Bereich der Kundenunterstützung bei Problemen mit erworbenen Produkten (Support) weist CBR bereits erste Erfolge auf. Das bekannteste Beispiel aus diesem Bereich ist das Internetangebot für den Bereich Computerspiele der LucasArts Entertainment Company. Das seit Ende 1995 bestehende interaktive Supportsystem dient dazu, Kunden bei der Problemlösung zu unterstützen und damit telefonische oder schriftliche Anfragen beim Hersteller zu vermeiden. Das CBR-basierte System beantwortet ca. 81% der Kundenanfragen selbständig und erledigt damit die Arbeit von über 30 Mitarbeitern des firmeneigenen Call-Centers (vgl. Inference 1999).
