Zusammenfassung
Zur mathematischen Behandlung beispielsweise eines physikalischen Problems bildet man zunächst ein Modell, dann analysiert man es, und schließlich zieht man Folgerungen daraus. Der erste Schritt erfordert großes Geschick und tiefen Einblick in die Zusammenhänge. Denn das Modell soll einmal alle wesentlichen Phänomene enthalten; es soll aber andererseits auch genügend einfach sein. Im zweiten Schritt geht es dann um das Bereitstellen einer Lösungstheorie, und im dritten bemüht man sich um die Interpretation. Zwischen den einzelnen Schritten ist eine Rückkopplung natürlich unerläßlich.
