Abstract
The International Classification of Functioning of the World Health Organization (ICF) is an innovative instrument of classification accepted by 191 countries as the international standard to measure and classify health and disability. Its use has an important impact on medical practice, research, population statistics and on social and health policies.
The substantial innovation of ICF is in the methodological approach to health that takes into account subject wholeness and his environment.
The rehabilitation treatment of the worker assumes a rehabilitative diagnosis by means of a multi-dimensional and social assessment, and it uses ICF bio-psycho-social model as a reference.
This model requires a methodological analysis in order to shape an operating profile after an accident at work or an occupation disease.
The aim of this study was to assess ICF classification use during the injured worker management, and to contribute to the definition of a specific Core Set for the evaluation of the working gesture, by providing a systematic coding scheme for Inail health information systems.
The primary goal was to create a database of INAIL working gesture, in order to obtain objective data for future research, fulfilling needs for knowledge and information. Another aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of working gesture-oriented rehabilitation approach, that is for the wealth function of Inail an important challenge.
Between January 2015 and December 2017, we assessed 37 subjects referring to the outpatient clinic of a physical medicine and rehabilitation department of Inail. Of these 37 subjects, 30 underwent a specific working gesture-oriented rehabilitation, in addition to functional rehabilitation, totalizing 359 treatments on them.
