Definitions

Inequality is the difference between people and groups of people based on social status, wealth, or opportunity (Collins; Cambridge Dictionary). Carter and Reardon (2014) highlight four key domains: socioeconomic, health, political, and cultural as the ecology of inequality. Neckerman (2004) identifies factors such as family and neighborhood, education and work, health, political participating, and the formation of public policy as dimensions of social inequality. Economic inequality is considered to be affecting many other inequalities.
