Definitions

The development of appropriate indicators is prerequisite for evaluating the effectiveness of activities while simultaneously considering synergies and trade-offs amongst various goals in the management system. Performance measurements are composed of periodic results (outcomes) and efficiency of public services or programs. Key performance indicators (KPIs) are the measures that possible best represent the strategy and are critical success factors both for current and future situation. Local governments use logic model as a framework to assess the contribution of regional sustainable initiatives and the implementation of KPIs. Developing effective and specific KPIs is crucial for administrative management.
