Abstract
In this commentary, I aim to reflect on the findings so well-described by Bruno in her chapter and to contextualize the issue of youth suicide in relation to the work of child advocates in Canada and the children’s commissioner in England. Bruno’s work clearly demonstrates the lack of youth involvement in attempts to address the tragic loss of lives in the local context, which does not truly serve the young people in that community; and that adult-centric approaches are disempowering for youth people. Given that the Child Advocates and Commissioners are charged with representing the voices of (particularly vulnerable) children and young people, it will be illuminating to see exactly what these offices are doing in respect to youth suicide.
