Abstract
Your patients will show their appreciation from time to time with cards, a few even with gifts. Be careful and cautious. There are reporting guidelines to follow based on your employment. There may be attempts at influencing their care. And declining a gift can be taken as insulting in some cultures and damage the doctor-patient relationship. Some physicians ascribe to an all or none philosophy, but most are found somewhere in between. This chapter is meant to highlight some of the issues involved when a gift is given to a physician.
