The Impact of the LBS Alumni on the School and Society

Alumni Leadership and University Excellence in Africa

Part of the book series: Palgrave Studies in African Leadership ((PSAL))

Abstract

The chapter begins with the revelation of the secret of the seeming strength of the LBS Alumni Association, followed by recognising the strong support of the alumni to the School, and how this support has contributed to the School’s international ranking and accreditations. The chapter discusses the various aspects of this support, which transcend just the financial, and also discusses the mission of the founding fathers of the alumni association—creating an oasis of sanity in an otherwise chaotic Nigerian society. It examines the impact of this ethical revolution on the Nigerian business climate, and recognises that there has been some level of success, especially in correcting the negative notion of a “Nigerian way” of doing business.
