Definition
Protected areas present an area managed to protect species, ecosystems, and ecological processes as well as cultural values and have a role in environmental stability and provision of natural resources.
Management of protected areas refers to the cycle of planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reviewing aimed at achieving conservation outcomes and multiple socioeconomic benefits for communities. Protected area management objectives could be different from the maintenance of endangered species or habitat types, protection or restoration of important ecosystems, or maintenance of an ecological function.
Sustainability ensures the needs of the present while saving enough resources to maintain the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
