Abstract
Pasang is a centuries-old traditional game of Brunei Darussalam. It is a strategy game that was popular among sections of Brunei society. This paper aims to discuss the game play and the game AI used in Pasang Emas, a computer implementation of the traditional board game. It outlines the use of search and evaluation algorithms and how the AI algorithm is played and implemented in Pasang and in comparison with recent development in AI board game implementation. A result of two experiments are presented here in the form of a contest between the game AI and an expert pasang player who was part of a national champion team and the second one from the experiment done by the creator to find out the complexity of the pasang game along with comparisons with other board games.

Another variation of the creation of the kas is by selecting jumping over another token and into the passage rather than by sliding into it.

In the traditional board, the purpose of the gadong is for the first player to place the captured tokens as an honour for being the first to play. The second player has to place the captured tokens on other placeholder or simply on the area nearby outside the board.

In traditional pasang, the token chosen as kas is changed with a coloured token, usually a button, to differentiate it from the rest of the tokens.

Pg Hj Tarsat bin Pg Hj Abdul Rahman, a veteran expert pasang player, agreed to play five games on 30 May 2017 and the game moves and results were recorded.
