Abstract

Giovanni Domenico Cassini accepted the invitation of the marquis Malvasia to move in his castle. At the age of 24 years old, he thus left permanently his native land. As reported in his memoirs, he arrived at the castle of Panzano when: “Senator Malvasia was in Villa Pausano, close to Modena, where he was building an Observatory which had to be equipped with several instruments and with a lot of astronomy books”.
