Abstract
Stroke is a neurological emergency that carries a risk of morbidity and mortality. Normal physiologic changes associated with pregnancy, combined with pathophysiologic processes unique to pregnancy, predispose women to develop stroke during pregnancy and the postpartum period. In this review, stroke and other vasculopathies in the pregnant females are examined. A discussion of the symptoms and clinical presentation of stroke is provided, as well as the current guideline for treatment of stroke in pregnancy.
