Definition

A score derived from the administration of selected subtests from the fifth edition Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) and the fourth edition Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-V). The Fluid Reasoning Index (FRI) provides a measure of fluid and inductive conceptual thinking and simultaneous processing.

Current Knowledge

Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WIS): The WPPSI and WISC are two of the most widely used tests to assess general intellectual ability in children aged 2–7 (WPPSI) and children aged 6–16 years (WISC). Since the original development of these scales (Wechsler 1949, 1967), both tests have been revised on several occasions. The most recent revisions were published in 2012 (WPPSI-IV) and 2014 (WISC-V).
