Abstract

Corrositex® (In Vitro International, Placentia, CA, USA) is a 25 year old in vitro test method designed to predict the skin corrosivity potential of chemicals. Corrositex assigns chemicals both to UN packing groups I, II, III and Non-corrosive, and to GHS corrosive subcategories 1A, 1B, 1C (accepting “not Catergory 1” results also). The degree of corrosivity potential of a chemical is predicted by measuring its penetration time through calibrated biobarriers into a chemical detection system.

Rich Ulmer has been President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of InVitro International since 1994. Amy Wang has been a Director of R&D of InVitro International since 2009.
