Craft Beverages and Tourism, Volume 1

Abstract

The introductory chapter situates Volume 1 with the current context of the craft beverage industry. It outlines various forms of craft beverage tourism and denotes that the volume highlights the evolution of destinations, businesses, and entrepreneurs associated with this growing market. This chapter aligns the volume with many other current areas of growing scholarship and societal trends including culinary travel research, leisure and ‘third’ spaces, place-based economies, and social and cultural benefits of small-scale locally owned businesses. After a short listing of the oldest craft beverage scholarship, each chapter of Volume 1 is introduced.
