Abstract
The volume of upper and lower endoscopy being completed annually, particularly endoscopic ultrasound based other therapeutic procedures, continues to increase at a steady rate. While endoscopy may not play a significant role in every surgeon’s practice, acute care surgeons must understand the evaluation and treatment of common complications associated with both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This chapter reviews the diagnosis and treatment of such complications including perforation, bleeding, stricture, obstruction, and pancreatitis.
