Abstract
This chapter systematically develops how the emergence of capital from out of commodity circulation leads capital to undertake commodity production for the sake of accumulating wealth. The chapter conceives the basic form that the labor process takes in capital’s production of commodities with commodities, doing so without falling into the confusions that plague Marx’s account. The basic labor-capital relation is conceived in its full universality, without restriction to the particular historical form with which Marx limits it.
