Abstract

In children, brain tumors tend to occur within the posterior fossa and along the midline consequently interfering with the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation and often leading to an obstructive hydrocephalus. Therefore, tumor associated hydrocephalus is a common problem to be faced by neurosurgeons in their daily practice. In spite of this common occurrence, there is still an ongoing discussion on how and when hydrocephalus associated to intracranial tumors should be managed, whether preoperatively, intraoperatively, or postoperatively.
