Abstract
Adherence is integral to patient health [1]. Moreover, when patients fail to comply with suggested measures, it is economically taxing to the medical community at large [2]. These ideas make it crucial to understand adherence-related behavior. By better understanding compliance, mechanisms geared toward improvement might be established. This chapter discusses adherence in two ways: prevention and treatment. The first manner through which to examine compliance behavior will be in relation to sun-induced skin damage (specifically skin cancer, premature aging, and actinic keratosis), while the second concerns a specific connective tissue disorder, localized scleroderma.
