Abstract

In this chapter, the author focuses on the key elements necessary to provide quality care while achieving financial viability. He focuses on the importance of staying true to the geriatric approach to care, which shares a lot with the newer palliative care movement. The importance of the customer and the need for a patient-centered approach to care are reviewed. The importance of holding true to the geriatric approach and model is discussed. The need to understand coding rules and finding ways to effectively integrate them into the practice is highlighted.
