Abstract
Currently, cascade solvent extraction processes are predominantly used in industrial rare earth separation. Professor Xu and co-workers developed the rare earth cascade solvent extraction principles and these methods for process design have been widely used by the rare earth separation industry. These principles and methods have been proved realible and valid in over 30 years of industrial practice of rare earth separation. With the adoption of advanced computing technology, the application of these principles and methods have been progressed and extended to new rare earth separation process design and simulation. Xu’s rare earth cascade solvent extraction principles and methods are discussed in detail in this chapter.
