Nordenskjöld Archipelago – is located in the southeastern part of the Kara Sea between the longitudes 94° and 98° E, in the Taymyr (Dolgan-Nenets) Autonomous District, Russia. It is a vast Arctic Archipelago near the shore of the Taymyr Peninsula, stretched from west to east for more than 130 km. It consists of 90 islands of the skerry type. The two main straits Mathisen and Lenin divide it into three groups of islands: the southern, central, and northern. The southern group consists of the islands of Nansen, Bonevi, Taymyr, Pilot Alexeyev, Pilot Makhotkin, and smaller ones. They are separated from the mainland coast by the straits of Fram, Zarya, and Taymyr. The middle group, bounded on the south by the Mathisen Strait and on the north and east – by the Strait of Lenin, consists of the Vilkitskiy Islands, the Tsivolka Islands, and Pakhtusov Island.
