Abstract

Rectal atresia is a very unique defect that occurs in approximately 1 % of all cases of ARM. The main characteristic of this defect is the fact that it has a normal anal canal and normal sphincter mechanism, which gives these patients an excellent functional prognosis, provided they receive an adequate operation. The procedure is well illustrated in this chapter.
