Abstract

A major concern in developed societies is elder people’s quality of life. In general, today’s demographic situation implies an increase in life expectancy and quality. Such a scenario can be summarized by the following expression: achieving wellness by feeling good. In this context, hydrotherapy acquires special importance. This chapter outlines a program sponsored by IMSERSO: the IMSERSO Social Cures Program. The goal of this paper is to analyze future trends (i.e., over the next decade) in such programs across Spain, based on estimations of elderly population size. The key contribution of this paper is calculating a ratio to examine and analyze the number of seniors in each seat in the program. The goal of this research is to calculate the number of available spaces if the program is sufficient or, in light of steady and progressive elderly population growth in Spain, if any social demand would remain uncovered.
