Mine Planning and Equipment Selection

Abstract

This research deals with the slope stability evaluation on the open-cast of the Vilnogirs’k Mining and Metallurgical Plant (Vilnogirs’k, Ukraine) to optimize open-cast mining operations and decrease the volume of excavated overburden. The analysis based on the Hoek-Brown failure criterion includes three logical steps to reveal dependence of the Shear Reduction Factor on the slope geometry and structural characteristics of the rock mass.
