Abstract

In this paper, the evacuation of a large scale outdoor event is described. The assessment is based on determining the required safe egress time by evacuation simulation. This paper argues that the method used is applicable to the evacuation simulation of outdoor events in general. The major acceptance criteria for the evacuation safety are: (1) the comparison of the available safe egress time ASET and the required safe egress time RSET and (2) the identification of congestion.
