Abstract
Although Schönbrunn is perhaps only of very marginal medical historical interest, you simply must include a visit to this magnificent Baroque palace complex. Schönbrunn can be reached most quikkly by the U4 Underground line. From the station Schönbrunn it is only a few metres to the main entrance to the palace grounds that is flanked by two obelisks. Napoleon had the golden French imperial eagles mounted on top of the obelisks in 1805 when, to humiliate the Habsburgs, he chose Schönbrunn as his residence. In front of us at the far end of the cour d’honneur measuring 24,000 square metres in area is Vienna’s most popular tourist sight that attracts millions of visitors every year: the magnificent Baroque gesamtkunstwerk Schönbrunn.
