Summary

A C.W. electron spin resonance spectrometer able to record 3D images, operating at ca. 250 MHz, is described. Its potential for use in whole body imaging is discussed in terms of radicals of significant interest, and of narrow-line transition metal complexes. It is concluded that, at present, it is essential to use added radicals having the narrowest possible singlet ESR spectra and that working in a pulse mode may prove to be essential for useful whole-body imaging.
