Summary

The use of a variety of behavioural procedures to study discrete psychological processes and neural mechanisms underlying integrated patterns of sexual behaviour are described. Such procedures have especial power when used in conjunction with drugs having specific actions, but they are in no sense “models” of human sexual behaviour and would appear to have but limited value in the development of drugs which may be effective in a therapeutic context.
