Abstract

A variety of presentations here aimed to clarify the relationships between periodontal problems and prosthetic dental restorations. They concerned:

  1. 1.

The design and execution of appliances which did not have iatrogenic effects for the remaining dentition, and which if possible should even contribute to its conservation.

  2. 2.

The importance of achieving a functional balance between two fundamentally different methods of prosthetic support, the one through the supporting structures of the remaining teeth, and the other through edentulous maxillary or mandibular ridges.
