Beyond Reality: Navigating the Power of Metaverse and Its Applications (IMDC-IST 2024)

Abstract

The term Metaverse denotes the forthcoming iteration of the internet, which is a recently introduced concept within our scholarly community, particularly in the realm of higher education. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of Metaverse technologies on improving the caliber of higher education. This text further explores the analytical presentation of previous studies on Metaverse technologies, including virtual reality VR, augmented reality AR, and mixed reality MR. Besides, it examines the quality of the educational process, focusing on the roles of teachers, students, and the curriculum. The analysis is conducted using a theoretical review methodology. This study goals to scan the practical applications of Metaverse technology in enhancing the learning process by analyzing real-life case studies. As a result, the paper arrived at several conclusions and recommendations, with the most significant being that Metaverse technologies played a crucial part in enhancing the educational process by introducing innovative e-learning technologies.
