About the authors

Eleftherios Pelechas, MD received his MSc in Healthcare Management and PhD in Epidemiology. He has worked in different hospitals in the United Kingdom. He is a Rheumatologist and a research associate at the University Hospital of Ioannina, Greece. He has been trained in Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography and has received certification from the Central Health Board of Greece. He is serving as an editorial board member and a reviewer of several medical journals and has authored research articles, book chapters and books. He has also participated in several national and international congresses as well as in several research studies. Dr. Pelechas is a member of the General Medical Council (GMC - UK), Medical Association of Corfu (Greece), Medical Association of Thesprotia, Hellenic Association of Rheumatologists. His research interests include: Epidemiology of the rheumatic diseases, autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

 

Evripidis Kaltsonoudis, MD received his PhD in Rheumatology. Currently, he is working as a senior Registrar in Rheumatology at the University Hospital of Ioannina, Greece. He has participated in several national and international congresses with many distinctions, as well as several research studies. He has authored many articles with an interest to newer therapeutic targets in autoimmune diseases and a particular interest in neurological adverse events after anti-TNF therapy. Dr. Kaltsonoudis is a member of the Medical Association of Ioannina (Greece), Hellenic Association of Rheumatologists. Research interest: autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases.

 

Paraskevi V. Voulgari, MD is a Professor of Rheumatology and Head of the Rheumatology Clinic in the Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School, University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece. She received her medical degree and her PhD from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, Greece. Professor Voulgari had been trained in Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography in Italy (Prof. Grassi). She has authored over 250 articles in scientific journals. Her work has received more than 11200/6981 citations and has an h-index of 57/45 (Google Scholar/Scopus). Her research interests include epidemiological and clinical studies of autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

 

Alexandros A. Drosos, MD is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine/Rheumatology and former Head of the Rheumatology Clinic in the Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School, University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece. He received his medical degree from the University of Bari, Italy and his PhD from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina Greece. He worked as a fellow in the Rheumatology Unit of UMDS, Guy's Hospital, London, UK and as a Guest Researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Neuromuscular Diseases Section (NINDS), Bethesda, MD, USA. He has been an invited speaker and chairman in numerous international conferences and he has organized many scientific meetings. He is a reviewer in more than 60 international journals. He has authored over 400 publications. His work has been cited more than 23000/16000 and has an h-index of 80 (Google Scholar/Scopus).
