Abstract
Bulgaria became part of the European Union (EU) on 1 January 2007, within the second wave of the EU’s largest enlargement so far. Accordingly, as a full Member the country has been trying to follow and participate in common European policies for more than 16 years. Yet the politics of the EU remains distant and unpopular to Bulgarian population. Recent developments have increased such tendencies and pose a challenge to general support for EU Enlargement.
