Abstract
In 2022, I wrote a piece in the BMJ Leaders blog for International Women’s Day, which was aptly titled From a place of hope (Khan 2022). As the Editorial Fellow of the BMJ Leader Journal, I want to start this chapter by remaining hopeful about healthcare and medical leadership whilst focusing on some of the challenges faced by members of our workforce. I want to highlight the idea of ‘hope’ and it's role in strengthening my resilience and improving my resolve to remain in healthcare. Furthermore, I want to confirm that ‘my hope; for positive change in healthcare has been a strong force that has kept me involved, committed, and working towards sustainability in my career. It has been an active choice, occasionally a difficult resolution, and an intentional decision that has allowed me to remain spirited through my own journey and career in healthcare.
