Abstract

Learning can vastly improve life in the later years, but learners at this stage of life are still relatively few. Accommodating the characteristics of older learners and adapting the learning processes can facilitate their learning. Learning options must be pertinent to their needs for wise decisions for the decades of later life. To benefit from life and societal changes, they would need to know, for example, about on-line participation (commerce, government, banking, etc.), falls prevention, safe exercise routines, legal wills or bequests and choices in palliative care. National investment in an inclusive lifelong learning system ensures high returns gained from longer lives of productive contributions.
