Abstract
Traumatic injury represents the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in developed countries worldwide. Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST) examination has progressively expanded to include a rapid assessment of almost every aspect of the trauma patient. As a result, ultrasound is viewed not only as a diagnostic tool, but also as an extension of the physical examination.
