Abstract
Industry 4.0 (I-4.0) entail the use of very advanced technologies and plays a vital role in the pursuit of augmenting the quality of life of the individuals in the society and the society as a whole. Further, the technologies invented and developed by technology 4.0 are also used for solving the complex problems of Society 5.0 (S-5.0) and thus renders benefits to mankind. S-5.0 has peculiar attention which encompasses the sentient being at pivotal of modernization while technological revolution and the automation of industrial processes are being motivated by I-4.0. The S-5.0 is visualized as a society in which a happier, satisfied, and fulfilled paradigm will be reflected and thus the society will be more productive. Moreover, S-5.0 also displays an increased degree of interconnection between people and computers and the use of the Internet and information technology exists prominently. The scope of this chapter is to determine if different modern technologies including information technology can influence people’s behavior, opinion, and psychology or not. Further, this chapter also analyzes the impact of modern technologies on the overall arena of societal psychology. Furthermore, different positive and negative psychological consequences of society created because of the use of modern technologies are also delineated in this chapter and it has been revealed that modern technologies generated psychological ambivalence in the society. Perhaps, it is because modern technology is responsible for creating ease and comfort in society and simultaneously it creates negative impacts of catastrophic degree. Over and above, the psycho-dynamics of society are illustrated with the help of two extremities. These are the ‘technophilia’ and ‘technophobia. Some psychological models are also included in this chapter.
