Abstract
Corruption and lack of democracy increase the risk of green victimization in Turkey. National and international corporations earn a significant amount of wealth from extractive projects. This chapter asks who profits from the mass extraction of Turkey’s natural resources and who challenges green crime and victimization. Taking a Southern approach to green crime, this chapter shows how interactions between international and national corporations, politicians, and powerful eilites facilitate dynamics that destroy the environment and the livelihood of rural populations. This chapter concludes that unless substantial structural political and economic changes are made, the vulnerability of the people to green crime will continue.
