Definition

Social care relates to the care by public or private companies for people in society who need special help such as help with washing or eating to live comfortably. In general, the term social care or its frequently used synonyms social work or social welfare also refers to all kinds of personal care and other practical assistance that contributes to improving the quality of life, subjective well-being of individuals, groups, and communities in need or at risk of being in need. Usually, these groups include children, young and older adults, individuals with mental or physical disabilities, individuals suffering from alcohol and substance abuse, and people of ethnic and racial minorities, among others.
