Abstract
As a result of the sanctions imposed, the Russian population was supposed to rebel. For the time being, however, it blames the emerging supply difficulties, high prices, limited opportunities to travel abroad and more modest cultural exchanges on the hostile West, rather than President Putin’s regime and its policies. It is true that people are not demonstrating in front of the American embassy, but neither are they gathering with raised fists in front of the Kremlin. But this can also happen.
