Abstract

This chapter aims to present and discuss the latest advances and possible forthcoming developments in vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) research. Although new approaches have been recommended for the management of adverse events after the transplantation in recent years, rejection and immunosuppression are still the main challenges for VCA. Beyond face and hand transplants, the transplantation of other organs has been proposed. Eye allotransplantation could be one of the future challenges.
