Abstract
This paper describes one of the methods for solving the problem of packaging transportation boxes on an auxiliary transportation equipment such as a flat pallet. An augmented reality application has been developed for this purpose. In the application, real boxes have their virtual twins that can be handled before they are physically arranged on a flat pallet. The application uses a smartphone camera to detect the flat pallet and allows the worker to see the stacked virtual boxes in real time, so that the worker knows which box should be stacked next. The order of stacking boxes is determined by an algorithm that runs in the background of the application. The current disposition of the boxes on the pallet is kept until the worker clicks and adds a new virtual box. In this way, by applying augmented reality for the purpose of stacking boxes on a pallet, possible stacking errors are reduced. While augmented reality continues to evolve, this paper is a contribution to its practical application in the field of material handling.
