Abstract

Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect the skin, mucous membranes, and nails; it is clinically characterized by purple pruritic cutaneous papules and mucosal striae. Topical treatments are usually employed on limited lesions, especially the oral ones. The most useful medications are corticosteroids and tacrolimus.
