Clinical Decision-Making in Oral Medicine

Abstract

Pemphigus and mucous membrane pemphigoid are part of the group of immune-mediated mucocutaneous disorders with considerable overlap in their clinical presentations. Mucous membranes are predominantly affected, and the oropharyngeal mucosa is often the site initially affected. The diagnosis of these cases can be challenging, and the dentist is very important for the early diagnosis and management of these diseases. This chapter includes an update from diagnosis to therapy of oral manifestations of pemphigus and mucous membrane pemphigoid.
