Abstract
In this chapter we present a contextual behavioral therapy called acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and its applications in education. We begin with the main concepts of ACT and some empirical evidence of its contributions to the educational context. We then discuss different ways of applying ACT: workshops that can be incorporated into the school curriculum, self-guided interventions, and individual therapy. As an example, we describe the design of a single workshop and a sequence of four workshops. We also provide a self-guided intervention protocol adapted to a booklet format that details classic ACT exercises found in workshops and individual therapy. We conclude with the main characteristics of this approach and benefits of its application.
